O'Connell Street Permablitz

Posted by Tim Auld about 13 years ago

A very ambitious permablitz on a site with drainage challenges.

I got to the blitz early afternoon, having some other commitments earlier. I helped manage the construction of the social space, using some large logs as seats and retaining walls for the Taro bog. I was too preoccupied with work to take more photos but there may be some coming from others on facebook.

A lot of water goes through this site so special attention was given to water flow. The social space was raised using gravel to avoid the boggy mess that existed prior. We'll see how successful it is in the next downpour!

Tim Auld : Hi Mark, it's sub-tropical - Brisbane. There are varieties of taro that will grow in cooler climates.
