Summer tasks in Permacultura Aralar

Project: Permacultura Aralar

Posted by Victor Barahona over 11 years ago

A list of our summer tasks

In this summer we continued performing various tasks outlined here, will detail later some of them with pictures and explanations:

- We celebrated our first guided tour, we did it in early June. Also we celebrated our first Permaculture Introduction course at the end of July, during a weekend. Included a guided tour to see the practical application of various techniques .

- Finally repaired the door and the fence at the entrance, where we have already part of the hedge (Eleagnus ebbingei, nitrogen fixer and very appreciated in Permaculture)

- Prepair land in a second garden plot between lauburu garden and house. We will start grow vegs next spring.

- We started, but not finished, the first swale (of 4), which prevent a point where we have erosion. We want to finish before the rains will come.

- The lauburu  garden is finished and it's great but lacks finishing the floor in the corridors, the drainage. Soon we will finished.

Earths' Dam maintenance (yearly). A seemingly simple task because the dam is very small (drain-cleaning filters and dredge), it has become a problem, the water tubes are clogged. We fixed them provisionally but must be redessigned soon. With this issue have learned a lot. Certainly deserves an article with many photos.

The problem with the dam has caused a delay with other tasks as the beginning of the basis for future geodesic dome. But it doesn't matter , we move forward.

Legend of Badges

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI Teacher

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
