The emergency of cultural sharing between Native peoples and Permaculture, Key of Restorative Justice

Project: Gokiro

Posted by Régis Grosset about 11 years ago

Native traditions and modern knowledge in a creative context of mutual respect, all together they created a place of abundance.

The same thing happens here. Native traditions are models of adaptation, which should be taken our best regard. Their respect for women, their achievements, their social organizations, their sense of justice and their respect for all things, a knowledge and understanding transmited through the example and observation. The Medicines, horticultural or wildlife and native flora, are a solid foundation for adapting permaculture home steading.

Permaculture brings the taste to participate to something common, sensible, a wave of creativity and hope expected everywhere in the world!

L'Éthique de la Permaculture - The Ethic of Permaculture

The Ethics of permaculture is simply to take care of the Earth, caring for humans and redistribute surplus equitably.

L'Éthique des Iroquois -  The Ethics of the Iroquois

The Wampum Two Ways, a symbol, through an artistic and historical value, the mutual respect, the ethic of the Haudenosaunees Nation.

This explanation has been described by the Iroquois before a parliamentary study group:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"When the Haudenosaunee came into contact with Europeans, they conclude with them treaties of peace and friendship.
Each treaty was symbolized by the Gus-Wen-Tah belt or Two Row Wampum. There is a bed of white wampum which symbolizes the purity of the agreement. There are two rows of purple and both rows have the spirit of your ancestors and mine.
There are three beads of wampum separating the two rows and they symbolize peace, friendship and respect. "
"The two rows represent two parallel tracks, two boats sailing together on the same stream.
One is a canoe that represents the Indians, with their laws, their customs and traditions.
The other is a ship that means whites, with their laws, their customs and traditions. The two people traveling side by side, each in his boat, and neither one nor the other is trying to steer the boat of his neighbor. "

Establish a sustainable culture

"The Two Row Treaty outlines a mutual commitment to friendship, peace between peoples, and living in parallel forever. The Haudenosaunee have increasingly emphasized that protecting Mother Earth is a fundamental prerequisite for this continuing friendship."

Legend of Badges

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

Member

Member

A member is a permaculturist who has never taken a PDC course. These cannot become PDC teachers. Members may be novice or highly experienced permaculturists or anywhere in between. Watch their updates for evaluation.

Permaculture Matchmaker

One of these badges will show if you select your gender and the "I'm single, looking for a permaculture partner" option in your profile.

People who’ve taken a Permaculture Research Institute PDC somewhere in the world.

pdc_teacher

PDC Teacher

People who claim to teach some version of PDC somewhere in the world.

pri_teacher

PRI Teacher

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.

pri_teacher
