Posted by Sheena Shah about 11 years ago

PRI-Kenya is happy to announce our very first International Permaculture Teacher Training with internationally renowned permaculture teacher Warren Brush from 13-17th of January 2014.

PRI-Kenya are proud to announce our very first international Permaculture Teacher Training (TOT) from January 13-17th 2014 held with renowned permaculture teacher, designer, consultant, community builder, storyteller and mentor, Warren Brush from Quail Springs, California. The TOT will be held at the beautiful Acacia Camp at the Swara Plains conservancy in Athi River, about 45 minutes south of Nairobi.

In order to register for the course participants must have taken a Permaculture Design Course. The focus of the course is on teaching skills for permaculture, topics will include, but are not limited to:

- teaching permaculture using a combination of creative presentation methods

- practicum and group work

- using storytelling

- awareness exercises

- feedback integration

- facilitation as a holistic learning journey

- integrating course learning with site, group dynamics and natural learning

patterns

- creating a PDC curriculum

The course is an intensive learning journey and aims to build participants skills as teachers, mentors and community builders. The unique setting of the Swara Plains wildlife conservancy provides an extraordinary opportunity for participants to experience the stunning wildlife of Kenya, including the world’s only white cheetah, as well as the private permaculture farm hosted within the conservancy where sustainable living through permaculture is carefully balanced with wildlife conservation.

The cost for the course is 43000 Kshs for African nationals and 1000 USD for international participants. This covers food, accommodation and tuition for the five
days. Please note that your travel costs are not covered.

There is also the opportunity to join PRI-Kenya on a tour after the TOT to PRI-Kenya partner demonstration sites and projects. The tour will span six days and will include;

- Amrita Children’s Home- an orphanage set up by Amma

- Nyumbani Village- a home for 1000 HIV/AIDS orphans near Kitui,

- Drylands Natural Resource Centre, a PRI-Kenya partner working with over

300 farmers in Makueni

- Laikipia Permaculture Centre and Nabulu Women’s group- one of PRIKenya’s key demonstration sites in progress located in a Maasai community. You will also be able to visit our community partners the Nabulu Women’s
group who grow aloe vera for soap production and the Laraigwan School where PRI-Kenya are initiating a food forest project.

Cost of the Tour yet to be finalized, please contact us on email below if you are interested!
