Still trucking' back to Florida and now for the IPC in Cuba!

Posted by Tia Silvasy over 10 years ago

Never stop learning and always living it up to the fullest.

So I've been nusy since I left Hawaii in September. Late September I gave a talk for the Simple Living Institute at their monthly Organic Growers Meeting about my travels and experiences in Hawaii and Australia. I returned to my beautiful Econ Farm in Orlando Florida where me and other teachers put on an awesome PDC mid-October followed by a 4-day Permaculture Immersion Course where we worked in the garden, added to the bamboo house, built a composting toilet, and harvested about a ton of water hyacinth off the Econ River to use as compost.

After that I was attracted down to the Florida Keys to the delightful homestead of Midge Jolly where I taought a 2-day Introduction to Permaculture Course. Its such a unique environment down there and I love how colorful all the people are there. We built a hugelculture mound planted with vetiver and constructed a miniture bamboo house as part of our weekend projects and were jined by Paul Beich for a special session on Social Permaculture.

Now I'm off to Cuba for the IPC. I signed up through NEEM so I wouldn't have to worry about any of my paperwork to go. I'm looking forward to meeting permaculturalists from all over the world there and checking out some of the permaculture projects in Cuba too! I'll be giving a persentation on my travels to Cuba mid0December in Orlando so keep posted!
