Isotopic fractioning in the natural world

Posted by Steven Lauwers about 6 years ago

When I read the Permaculture's Design Guide from Bill Mollison, I was rather intreged by the isotopic fractioning of oxygen by trees and it triggered a desire to understand why nature would distinguish between atoms of different isotopes. After all, an atom is an atom, isn't it. Well it took me on a trip into the wonderful world of ecological science. It sounds difficult but it is actually quite fun. Here is my view on the isotopic fractioning of Nitrogen, the building block of life.
