Project Summary

Speargrass is a small semi-isolated property established over 15 years towards self-sufficiency, with aims at creating an intentional community.

Project Description

Established food gardens, dairy goats, chooks, ducks, european honey bees, native bees, solar power, greywater reuse, composting toilet/s, scavenged and recycled building materials in all structures, wild meat, bushfire regeneration, biodiesel, building a dam, self mulching gardens, soil improvement and building, wild speargrass collection for mulching, wild buffalo/cattle manure collection for gardens, steam engine, solar bore, soap making, kids home learning, natural health care.......

With an invitation to all who want to learn with us and take responsibility for themselves and their actions.

There are many projects on the go, dreams and room for creativity and ideas.

Short or long term stay, with opportunities for permanence.

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
