Nick McGuigan is a Senior Lecturer in accounting at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. He has taught in the area of accounting and accountability in the New Zealand and Australian tertiary sector for the past fourteen years.
He is a passionate educator with research interests in the areas of accounting education, innovative teaching practice, social accountability, environmental governance, social permaculture and alternative economics and currencies.
Nick has been awarded numerous competitive grants for his work including two Australian Federal Government Office of Learning and Teaching grants and a German Academic Exchange Service grant to support an international research partnership. He has presented at numerous conferences and been invited to present at international forums in Europe, America, Australia and New Zealand. Nick has held visiting academic positions in Germany, England and New Zealand and received teaching excellence awards in 2012 and 2013.
Nick completed his Permaculture Design Course at Milkwood in 2014 and has studied Permaculture Teacher Training with Rosemary Morrow. He has undertaken further workshops and seminars with David Holmgren, Dan Palmer, Nicole Foss and Joel Salatin. Nick is passionate about reconceptualising our current business system - creating a shift towards a more holistic form of accountability - in order to create a new web of social construction that can infiltrate, develop and shift our world towards a social connectedness and a new way of viewing humanity.
