Born in 1959, I grew up in a village in the south of Zimbabwe. After schooling I taught high school Geography until 1996 when I did my Permaculture design course at Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre near Harare. Since then I have enjoyed reconnecting with nature, culture and indigenous knowledge and sharing on ecologically sustainable land-use with school communities and beyond. In 1997 I facilitated the setting up of the Schools and Colleges Permaculture (SCOPE) Programme within the Curriculum Development Unit of the Ministry of Education which has implemented Permaculture in over 200 schools in all districts in Zimbabwe. The fruits of this work led to the establishment of the Regional SCOPE (Rescope) Programme which I set up in 2007 in Blantyre, Malawi as a base for regional work in east and southern Africa. I have worked with projects in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa. I am passionate about healthy living and the empowerment of African communities and I enjoy the outdoors and organic gardening.
