María was born in Seville, Andalucía, and has been working as an Environmental Educator since 2003.

She finished her Environmental Sciencies degree in 2006, then started a Master in Restoration Ecology meanwhile she made an internship at Ecoescuela El Manzano (Chile), where she designed the zone 5 map of the Ecoescuela. Her final Master project was based on mixing restoration ecology and permaculture...and trying to take these conclusions into de University. In fact she started the Master just in order to take an internship in Permaculture.

Now, she is working in agroecology at a public institution from the south of Spain, trying to recover the local seeds and knowledge. She is also designing a xeriscape.She´s also teaching permaculture through Ecoherencia, the project she has co-founded. She has also started the "Jerez en Transición" initiative, where she is focused now in teaching the transition towns skills.
