About Jodi Jackson

I’m a garden writer and designer with a long history in Permaculture and Regenerative Agriculture. These days much of my work is centered around education; teaching people how to develop productive gardens and the ease of growing and preserving their own food. I also make and sell Insect Hotels, which you can read more about on my website

My career started about 20 years ago when my Uncle gave me a copy of "Introduction To Permaculture". I wasn’t really sure at the time why he thought that was an appropriate gift for a seventeen-year-old girl but, as I have since found out, it couldn’t have been more appropriate. In fact, it changed my life. Since then, pretty much wherever I have gone in the world I have had my hands in the soil.

I am the founder and chair of The Lemon Tree Project (#TLTP), which I kicked off in June 2012. TLTP is a community lead initiative that empowers neighbours come together & create a communal space in their street (or neighbourhood) where they can congregate and share. The basic framework of these communal sites is centred around a communal:
- lemon tree
- herb garden
- park bench
It often turns out a lot more than that :)
It's designed to get people out of their homes & gives them a place where they might bump into neighbours, open up a dialogue with people they've never met before and perhaps share food & the joy of gardening.
TLTP is something that I created for anyone in the world who may wish to make a positive change in their community. It's a small gesture but really powerful.
There are now in excess of 1000 sites right around Australia & NZ.

Sadly Craig Mackintosh(PRI) deleted my project from here because he didn't see it's relevance to Permaculture! Go Figure!

Visit for more information.

I am also a founding member of the Environmental Champions organisation
We are a collaborative group helping like-minded individuals kick-start awesome environmental projects that can change their communities for the better.

I am the "Resident Gardening Expert" on Environmentality 98.9FM on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. The show is on every Wednesday from 12pm-1pm and streams live on the web.
