About Lola Byron

Hello, my name is Lola, I am a resident artist, natural building and earth art teacher and visitor/community coordinator at Rak Tamachat Farm in North East Thailand.
I have always been interested in agriculture and living a simple life with the hope of one day being self-sufficient and living in union with nature. I believe applying principles of Permaculture can help me and others achieve this goal and that is what has lead me to teaching and living here at Rak Tamachat.

The Rak mission has been to convert a commercial rice/corn farm into an abundant and productive Permaculture Education Center. Through applying integrated companion systems we hope to demonstrate large-scale sustainable agriculture and bring together cultures and community through sharing knowledge and skills.
The transition from a commercial farm to a Permaculture Education Center began in Jan 2012 and since then many positive and exciting changes have occurred and new systems have been implemented.

We are currently working on:

* A black water shower and toilet system filtrated with worms and grass beds
* A 40ft Mandala themed garden design
* Planting over 3,000 trees and shrubs
* Aquaculture and Aquaponics
* Continuing work on our forest garden
* Finishing building work in our sala and kitchen
* Experimenting with natural sealants in preparation for the monsoon season

I wanted to create this account so we can interact and share what we are doing with others and learn what other interesting projects are happening around the world.

We love to have visitors to the farm to pass on skills and knowledge and I hope to use this as a platform to invite anyone to come and stay at Rak Tamachat and to also advertise the courses we run.

Thanks for your time, with Love and Peace Lola
